Visit from Wuhan’s vice-Mayor

To understand Singapore’s infrastructure and handling of waste, Wuhan’s vice-Mayor, Mr Chen Yong Wen, and his cohort visited ecoWise’s Biomass Power Plant at Gardens by the Bay on 29 March 2017.
Arranged by IE Singapore, the group was given an overview of the company while enjoying a cool reprieve from Singapore’s heat. There was much interest as Mr Chen listened to the presentation with rapt attention and peppered our deputy CEO, Mr Cao Shixuan, with questions on waste management. The group was then given a tour around the plant to understand the workings of a biomass power plant and how it is able to generate electricity for Gardens by the Bay 24 hours every day. Burning horticultural and wood waste, the plant produces superheated steam to generate electricity, turning waste into energy. “It had been a great pleasure to learn about this eco-friendly method to waste management,” said Mr Chen, “I hope this can be replicated at my Wuhan City.”
The visit concluded with a ride on the autonomous vehicle that ecoWise sponsored and a gift exchange between Mr Chen and ecoWise.
