Visit by Group of ASEAN Ministers Led by Mr Chan Chun Sing
Led by Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Trade and Industry of Singapore, 9 ASEAN Energy Ministers attending the ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) in Singapore visited ecoWise Power Plant at Gardens by the Bay on 28 Oct 2018.
The delegates included Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Trade and Industry, Singapore, Dr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State, Ministry for Trade and Industry, Singapore, H.E. Dato Mat Suny Hussein, Minister of Energy and Industry, Brunei Darussalam, H.E. Dr Arcandra Tahar, Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia, H.E. Yeo Bee Yin, Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change ,Malaysia, H.E. U Win Khaing, Union Minister for Electricity and Energy, Myanmar, H.E. Alfonso G. Cusi, Secretary of Energy, Philippines, H.E. Dang Hoang An, Vice Minister of Industry and Trade, Vietnam and H.E. Dato Lim Jock Hoi, ASEAN Secretary-General, ASEAN.
After a warm welcome and a short sharing by Chairman of ecoWise, Lee Thiam Seng, about how the Power Plant utilised wood waste effectively to provide renewable energy and cooling service to the Garden’s two conservatives, while preserving sustainability, the ASEAN ministers were brought to tour different areas inside the plant. They were interested in different aspects of the plant and also impressed with its efficiency in lowering carbon footprint.
Before the group finished the visit, Mr Lee thanked the ASEAN ministers for coming to our Power Plant again and said the visit has become a milestone in the company’s development. As a Singapore benchmark corporate in the sustainable energy industry, ecoWise wishes to work with ASEAN as well as worldwide countries proactively on reducing carbon footprint and building a sustainable green future.
